HOLIDAY PHOTOGRAPHY The holidays are in full swing and wherever this time of year takes you -- home, somewhere tropical, your parents' place -- capture the finer moments. Travel, adventure, and festive gatherings are some of the best activities for snapping those perfect photos. 1. Compose Creatively. Move in close and capture the intricate details. Being close to your subject also creates intimacy between your subject and the viewer. 2. Shoot first, questions later. Especially with children playing or opening packages, don't wait to capture a pose. Just keep snapping. Candid pictures have a tendency to be much more interesting than a staged shot. 3. Manage your flash. Auto flash is super convenient, but it can ruin a great photo. Turn off your flash inside to capture those warm tones and leave "auto" or "on" for outdoors.
