One week into the New Year, how are those resolutions coming along? If you're having trouble keeping them, here are a few tactics to help you out:
  1. Strategic pre-commitment: Tell a friend about your resolution and they'll help keep you accountable.
  2. Use "if-then" scenarios: An example would be, if you're tired at 10pm, then go to bed; or if you just got home from work, then put on your running shoes.
  3. Don't rely on sheer willpower: Studies show that willpower is more like an emotion than a muscle, and relying on it alone to keep your resolutions has a high chance of failure.
  4. Use a calendar: Mark off the days you kept your resolution and try to keep the streak going! Sometimes it helps to see a visual representation of all the work you've put in.
  5. And finally... don't take yourself to seriously. Happy New Year!
