Hi Gio,

Today we're kicking off our interview series with West Coast artist and filmmaker Tyler Wilson from @mindrite. We reached out and unearthed his opinions about creativity, editing apps, and the current state of photography. Enjoy! And if you want your rad work featured in this series, hit us up on IG @EasyTigerApps
How did you discover Easy Tiger Apps?
"I stumbled across Split Pic about 2 years ago. It was really a coincidence -- I was creating "split pictures" using a random frame app and it took me hours to get it right. Then I saw some other IGers hash tagging #splitpic and #easytiger so I got the app and it made my creative process a lot easier. I was just in the right artist space at the right time, and was embraced by the Easy Tiger community as a result. A true testament to the power of creativity when married with technology and inspiration."
What's your favorite app in our suite?
"I really dig Split Pic and Fused -- they're dynamic and easy to use -- but the app I've had the most fun with is Animal Face. My goal when approaching these apps, and my IG account in general, is to be as creative as possible while telling stories. I want my pictures to come across as organically as possible. So with my ANIMALS series, for example, I tried to make the pictures look realistic and had all these mini story lines in mind to create a real narrative."
What do you think about the current state of photography?
"I have a video production background and I was really involved in DSLR photography a few years back. I still enjoy my DSLR and respect traditional shooting and desktop photo editing platforms, but shooting on your phone and editing with mobile apps is so much more challenging to me. It's easy to slap a filter on a photo, but it's another thing to try to stand out and make a look your own. I think that's why I love the "series" approach. It gives me a chance to test new styles and to focus all my attention into one look and feel.

With Instagram you have a world wide audience and with hash tagging you really have no excuse not to share your corner of the world. That's harder for traditional photographers to do, and I honestly think they struggle with giving up quality for exposure.

As smartphones get better cameras and IGers keep pushing the limits on quality and creativity, I would argue that IG and mobile photography is starting to have the upper hand on innovation. It's cool to see Easy Tiger paving the way with their suite of apps and giving mobile photographers so many sick ways to express themselves."

Thanks for the interview, Tyler. Keep up the killer work!
